Three UK rolling out Android Jelly Bean update

CBR Staff Writer Published 11 January 2013

Samsung Galaxy S3 users to get the upgrade.

Three UK has started offering the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system update to users of the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone.

Google's Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 can be downloaded through Samsung Kies software upon automatically receiving an update notification.

The new OS is expected to offer its Samsung Galaxy SIII users many new 'Touchwiz' features including 'Multiview' that allows true split-screen multi-tasking on the smartphone, while the 'Page Buddy' feature opens a dedicated home-screen.

Additionally, the new OS comes with support for actions within the notification bar, continuous text-input and an updated gallery application.

The Project Butter and Google Now features are expected to attract users' interest as the first one offers rapid user interface interactions, while the latter acts as a virtual assistant, just like iOS' Siri feature.

Three UK claims users will also notice a general improvement in the reliability and speed of the new OS.
