Tizen platform supports smartphones, tablets, internet-enabled TVs and a host of other devices
Samsung has revealed plans to merge its Bada OS with Intel backed Tizen to move away from Google's Android.
A Samsung spokesman confirmed about the next move, according to Samsung Senior Vice President Kang Tae-jin's talk with the Forbes magazine.
Last September, Intel and Samsung's Linux groups - LiMo and MeeGo - came together to develop Tizen for wider consumer acceptance and scalability.
For Bada users, the good news is Tizen will support apps written with Bada's SDK, besides smartphones, tablets, internet-enabled TVs and a host of other devices.
Tizen will, however, face stiff competition from Linux-based Android and Apple's in-house software among a dozen of platforms.
Android has been leader of the global smartphone marketplace with a share of 53% .
