Microsoft, AgreeYa enter into pact for mobile apps

Their business apps will be available on iPhone, BlackBerry and other mobile devices

Microsoft will partner with AgreeYa Solutions, a US-based mobile engineering firm, to make business applications available on Apple's iPhone, RIM's BlackBerry and mobile devices of other companies.

The protocol licensing agreement between the two, held in Beijing, will allow AgreeYa Mobility to produce a software suite that interoperates with a range of Microsoft applications and services, connecting from Microsoft and other platforms, which also include Blackberry and HP's WebOS.

Microsoft's Open Solutions Group general manager of marketing strategy Sandy Gupta said the licensing agreement lets AgreeYa make productivity software that works with Microsoft's Remote Desktop and SharePoint programs and also covers devices running Google's Android software.

The partnership will be formally launched from March.

The two sides did not disclose the financial details of the agreement.
